Chicago Blackhawks ‘enforcer’ Adam Burish was a guest security guard on The Jerry Springer Show a couple weeks back, becoming the second hockey player, behind Joe Corvo, to appear. While I regrettably missed the episode, thankfully screenshots have surfaced. Burish commented on his blog about the show, most notably about dealing with the crazed females:

I will tell you though the hardest fights to break up were not the guys but the girls. Not only did I try and be careful where I put my hands while separating them, but what are you supposed to do when the girls start pulling each others hair?

According to hockeyfights.com, Burish is one of the least successful, but most active fighters in the league. The former Wisconsin standout has had difficulty with flyweights such as Douglas Murray this season, so his struggles with redneck talk show guests come as no surprise.

Burish will likely have a date with Anaheim goon George Parros on Friday night, as Blackhawks vs Ducks betting headlines an unusual afternoon hockey slate. The ‘Hawks have endured a fair amount of travel in the past two weeks, and fell to the Sharks in overtime at home last night (while they remain undefeated in regulation at the United Center). Another NHL betting western trip will probably result in the end of the point streak for the Blackhawks.

Sarah Spain from Mouthpiecesports.com has a neverending barrage of great clips with members of the Chicago Blackhawks, the latest of whom is Patrick Kane. The reigning Calder Trophy winner revealed that he is ‘bored’ of his current goal song “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions, and is on a constant search for a new one.

Spain has launched a campaign on the Chicago Blackhawks message board to resolve this issue, however the only logical choice is below:

How about Harvey Wittenberg replicating the call around 0:25 of this video, every time No. 88 lights the lamp?

Kane is primed to do plenty o’ lamp lighting on Saturday night in the Blackhawks vs Leafs betting matchup. The ‘Hawks will likely come in as favorites on NHL betting lines, and after wiping out the Coyotes and Stars to begin their road trip, it’s difficult to bet against them.

While the Edmonton Oilers public relations department sure loves to silence the common fan, they are seemingly unable to hush their own colleagues. Once again, head coach Craig MacTavish has publicly flown off the handle on one of his players.

Oilers bench boss Craig MacTavish celebrates a verbal knockout over Dustin Penner

Oilers bench boss Craig MacTavish celebrates a verbal knockout over Dustin Penner on Monday.

Below are a number of excerpts from Jim Matheson’s article on edmontonjournal.com, as MacTavish rips into the struggling Dustin Penner:

“When we signed Dustin we thought he’d be a top-two-line player…”

“We thought the contract ($4.25 million average for five years) was a starting point for him, but he views it as a finish line. I can’t watch it, certainly not for another 2 1/2 years…”

“You can’t throw gratuitous ice-time at a player that’s inconsistent,” said MacTavish. “It’s his competitiveness. The frustrating thing for me is he has the game but he can’t find it and you have to put the work in. He has a great set of tools but his legs are inconsistent. He needs more horsepower…”

Knockout!

Just face it–without Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry feeding him the puck, Dustin Penner sucks.

That being said, in terms of NHL betting,  Edmonton is a great underdog play tonight (+180) on the moneyline. The Oilers are  7-3 straight-up in their last 10 games against the Detroit Red Wings, and head to Joe Louis where they are 4-2 in their last six appearances.

After offering free tickets to any state resident with a drivers license, the Florida Panthers have drawn the line when it comes to freebies.

The Panthers Ice Dancers, who unquestionably rank second in terms of quality to the Blackhawks squad, are available for appearances at local functions for a cool $100 USD. However, perhaps there were too many Ramon Castro-esque suitors in Florida, because the Cats have instituted strict policies when it comes to posing with the dancers.

If you can’t read the fine print, or can’t peel your eyes away from the ladies in the fine printed outfits, the Panthers explicitly state that anyone being photographed with the dancers must have both hands in clear view of the camera. You can still touch them–just in a visible manner. A simple “excuse me,” as another Floridian might say, will not do–this will be enforced diligently. (Thanks to the good people at Busted Coverage)

There are certainly better times to be had for a Benjamin–with that being said, check the NHL betting lines and pound the Detroit Red Wings at home Friday night against the Panthers. Craig Anderson tends to get distracted.

After having my heart and sportsbook account broken by the UCLA Bruins and their inability to cover a 20.5 point spread against Prairie View A&M in the first half, I needed to vent my anger. So, I turned to my first love for solace–hockey fights.

Here we have two of my favorite players, and people in the NHL going at it in what might be the fight of the year up to this point–with all due respect to Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto.

Voters on hockeyfights.com are awarding the victory to Koci, thanks to his unorthodox style.

As for the Blues, they will travel to Chicago to face their division rivals on Friday. This is bad news for St. Louis who, after a torrid start, have been struggling to put the puck in the net in even-strength situations. Instead of offering to pay fans’ rent if they attend home games, perhaps that money would be better spent by insituting a goal scoring bonus for scrubs such as Dan Hinote to strive for.

The Blackhawks remain undefeated at home after losing to the Bruins in a shootout, and will be favorites on NHL betting lines to keep the streak alive. Ride this out until they cool off!
